Default Fake Parts

With all the craigslist sales, eBay Vendors, and China dealers out there, we want to ensure you are aware of parts you are buying. There are many knock-off companies coming out of the wood work making cheap replicas of well known products. However once installed the consumer experiences major problems and starts to wonder why. This is giving the real manufacturers bad names and consumers bad experiences. So while you are looking to mod your vehicle be carful of what you are buying. These guys are going as far as making the boxes look so much alike and unless you can read the language you would never know. Below an example.

This is a fake catch can made by a company trying to pass it off as a cusco can.

This is a real cusco catch can When side by side it is easier to see the differences such as the finish.

Cusco hand polishes their catch cans where the knock off company used a cheap chrome coating. The logo on the Fake can is upside down as well. The major difference is the fittings leak and quality is poor. This is only one example, these fake parts extend to such things as cam gears which will crack or not hold adjustment cause timing to change and damage your motor to blow off valves that leak and provide issues to the performance of your car. So be certian when buying you are getting the parts you are suppose to be getting and not knock-offs and look alikes.

I remember reading about all the G-Reddy blow off valves a few years back. I had no idea these types of items sold well enough for a company to try to replicate it to such a tee.

Thanks for keeping us aware!

Some of the big items they duplicate are Catch Cans, Manual Boost Controllers, Cam Gears, Suspension Parts. The bad part is not only are the companies that are being duplicated by these guys are getting a bad name the consumer is buying an inferior product that makes the car dangerous and unreliable. Boost controller gone bad can cause boost spike and detonation...suspension parts can fail and cause an accident. So this is something that really needs to be known to the people out there.

Even holset has videos of testing knock off turbos. The results aren't what you would want to happen under your hood. http://turbochargersbyholset.com/ jump to 1:35.
